Curzola 1298 Gin

The saying “luck in misfortune” definitely applies to the Gin Curzola 1298. Because if the two friends, who actually wanted to relax on a quiet sailing excursion, had not been surprised by a storm in the middle of the high seas, they would not have been stranded on the tranquil island of Lumbarda. Then strange smells and unexpected impressions would not have stimulated their imagination and gin lovers would never have been able to enjoy the Hamburg Dry Gin, which alone makes the story of its origins something very special.

It goes without saying that the creators have symbolically captured their unforeseen adventure on the dark green bottle. Huge tentacles pull a sailing ship into the depths of the sea, the number 1298 referring to the year in which the fleets of Venice and Guana faced each other in a memorable naval battle.

In the Gin Curzola 1298, however, more than two parties, namely a total of twelve botanicals, compete for dominance. Although the gin is a German spirit, the juniper and the eleven other ingredients, including rose petals, lavender blossom, orange, lemon balm and coriander seeds and cumo pepper, come from the Croatian Dalamites.

But does the gin also remind of an adventurous sea battle in terms of taste? While the botanicals promise a fiery taste experience, the fragrance sample initially surprises with a very subtle aroma. Juniper and citrus fruits are accompanied by mild orange and a hint of lavender. The different nuances almost seem to merge into one another, because none of the ingredients dominate the scent.

Botanicals:

Angelica root, cumeo pepper, coriander seeds, lavender blossom, lemon balm, mint, orange, grains of paradise, rose leaf, rosemary, vanilla pod, juniper, lemon

About the Producer
The tasting also turns out to be different than expected. At the beginning a light, almost creamy sweetness emerges. Only after a while does the cumo pepper open up a little firework of flavors on the palate. The gin stays spicy and warm on the tongue for a long time. The soft note is probably created by distilling over a wood fire with little pressure. The manufacturer recommends pure enjoyment.
