Product Description
Product Description
Dobričić is an ancient red grape of the Dalmatian coast, one of the two parents of Plavac Mali, grown on the island of Šolta for close to a thousand years and nearly extinct by the early 2000s. Dražen Zanchi planted it in 2012 on a parcel he inherited at Kaštel Lukšić, across the channel from Šolta, north of Split.
Zanchi is a doctor of physics at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. Living there he discovered natural wine and decided to make one that was authentically Dalmatian. He makes a single wine from this grape: spontaneous fermentation on indigenous yeasts, no added sulphites, about two years in neutral oak, from very low yields and in tiny quantities, a few hundred bottles a year.
Dobričić was prized on Šolta for its deep ruby colour. This is a natural red made with a light hand and a long rest in old wood.
Serve at 16 degrees with lamb, beef, game, cured meats or a mature hard cheese.
