Product Description
Product Description
Žminjski sir means cheese from Žminj, a town in the middle of Istria, and this pale, semi-hard wedge is made there from cow's milk.
Mljekara Latus is a small family dairy in Gornji Orbanići, Žminj, and its label carries the words tradicija obitelji Orbanić, the tradition of the Orbanić family. The cheese is made from pasteurised milk with rennet, salt and dairy cultures, aged for 20 days, and holds at least 35% milk fat in dry matter.
A short ageing like this gives a mild, milky cheese that slices cleanly and softens at room temperature.
Serve it with Istrian pršut, olives and good bread, melt it into a toasted sandwich, or cut it into cubes beside a glass of Malvazija.
