Product Description
Santa Lucia Teran pours a dark, almost opaque ruby, and the first swirl brings up black cherry, stewed plum and smoke.
The Kozlović family have made wine in the Vale valley below Momjan, in western Istria, since 1904, and Gianfranco and Antonella Kozlović are the fourth generation. Teran is one of Istria's native red grapes, and this 2017 comes entirely from their hilltop Santa Lucia vineyard, hand-picked, macerated for three weeks and aged 24 months in barrique.
Blackcurrant, leather, cedar, a little chocolate and forest floor follow, with the faint trace of mint typical of Istrian Teran. It is dry, with lively acidity, medium to full body, plenty of ripe tannin and a very long finish.
Decant it and serve at 18 °C with steak, grilled meat or game, or with gently spiced dishes such as paella.
