Product Description
Product Description
Dingač is the steep southern slope of Pelješac between Trstenik and Podobuče, Croatia's first protected wine appellation, where Plavac Mali bush vines grow on karst above the sea. Vedran Kiridžija's version comes from a tiny cellar in the old streets of Potomje, over the ridge, and is aged in Hungarian oak, which sets it apart from the French and Slavonian barrels most of his neighbours use.
Kiridžija has been on the Croatian wine scene for a long time but is little known because he makes so little: a few thousand bottles of Dingač from vines averaging 25 years old. He works only with Plavac Mali, plus a rare prošek from Rukatac grown on the Dingač slopes.
Mint, fresh berries, carob and dark chocolate on the nose, then a juicy, concentrated palate with a soft texture, dried fruit, firm tannins and a warm finish. It is a powerful wine built for ageing.
Decant and serve with beef, lamb, roast meat or hard cheese.
