Product Description
Maior pours a purple-red and opens with a very fruity nose of plum, currant, blueberry and sour cherry, with a thread of tobacco running through it.
Hvar Hills farms vineyards at Sveta Nedilja and Poljica on the island of Hvar, among the largest island vineyards in the Mediterranean, and picks its grapes by hand. Plavac mali is Dalmatia's native red grape, and Maior spends at least 12 months in French oak barriques and another 12 months in bottle before release.
On the palate it is gently tannic, follows the fruit of the nose and has a very elegant finish.
Serve it at 16 to 18 °C with grilled red meat, steak tartare or octopus cooked under the peka, the iron bell used for slow roasting in Dalmatia, or with stuffed squid, bean stews and hard cow's or sheep's cheese.
