Comb honey is honey as the bees stored it, sealed in wax cells that you can cut, spread on bread or eat straight from the spoon.

This 250 g piece comes from Pčelarstvo Daruvar, a beekeeping company founded in 1994 in the town of Daruvar, which produces and processes honey and other bee products. The label names it cvjetni, a multifloral flower honey, and gives Croatia as its country of origin.

Expect the soft give of fresh wax and a gentle floral sweetness, with crisp cell walls breaking into running honey as you cut in.

Set it on a cheese board beside young or aged cheese, lay a slice over warm toast or thick yoghurt, or bring the whole tub to the breakfast table and let everyone help themselves.

Pčelarstvo Daruvar d.o.o. was founded in 1994 and is based at Josipa Jelačića 87G in Daruvar, with a filling plant at Rimljanska 3 in the same town. Its core business is the production and processing of honey and other bee products, and in recent years it has added souvenirs, including wooden stands in which its products are packed. It sells through its own shops in Daruvar and Bjelovar and supplies souvenir shops, hotels and retail chains, mainly in Istria and Dalmatia.
