Product Description
Product Description
A dry Istrian red in the Bordeaux mould, full and harmonious, with firm tannins and a fresh line of acidity holding it together.
Coronica is a family winery near Umag, at the western edge of Istria, built up by Moreno Coronica with his late father Ottaviano. The vines for Grabar grow in deep red terra rossa at Bosco Grando, a couple of kilometres from the sea. It blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, aged in wood.
Expect ripe dark fruit carried on a solid, well-knit structure, with the oak folded in rather than sitting on top. At 14% it has real weight, and the tannins suggest it will keep.
Serve it with red meat, game, or a mature hard cheese, ideally decanted. A bottle also makes a considered gift for someone who cellars wine.
