Product Description
Pušipel is what Međimurje calls Furmint, and Mađerka is the hill above Štrigova where the Cmrečnjak family grows its best of it. This is the richer, creamier face of the grape, aged on its lees for a fuller body and a more complex scent.
The Cmrečnjak family has farmed around Sveti Urban, in the far north of Croatia, for generations. The first family cellar dates from 1884 and still holds the family archive. In 2014 they bought into the Mađerkin breg hill, whose terraced vineyards give the winery its signature wines.
The nose is full of yellow flowers, nectarine, peach and quince. The palate is oily and smooth, with stone fruit and a long, calm finish. The wine has taken gold at the Decanter World Wine Awards, where the judges noted its well integrated oak.
Serve at 10 to 12 degrees with roast chicken, pork in a cream sauce, mushroom risotto or hard cheeses.
