Product Description
Product Description
A semi-sweet Traminac from Ilok, the easternmost town in Croatia, where the Buhač family grows vines on loess above the Danube. The label says it plainly: vinar na praporu, a winemaker on loess.
Ivan Buhač founded the winery in 1998. He still runs the vineyards, about thirty hectares at sites with names like Principovac and Božino Brdo, while his son Domagoj, an economist who went back to study winemaking, runs the cellar. They make around 20,000 litres a year, most of it premium wine, and say they have no plans to grow.
Traminac gives a wonderfully fragrant wine, and this one shows the grape's apple and honey aromas in a semi-sweet style.
Serve chilled with fruit desserts, blue cheese, or on its own at the end of a meal. It also makes a good gift for someone who likes an aromatic wine.
