Ante Sladić Maraština Wine was in the past sold in pharmacies. It was literally prescribed by doctors as a medicine. It was also an official sacramental wine of the Sibenik region. 24 hour skin contact and aging on fine lees in neutral Slavonian oak barrels give this wine complexity, fuller body and typical Mediterranean character while it retains its distinctive freshness and minerality.
In the past, Marastina was traditionally aged for over 20 years. It’s like a medicine.
This variety, also called rukatac or krizol, can be a great everyday wine and represent a kind of Dalmatian version of Graševina, but it can also be much more than that.
Although the Maraschino variety is a fairly unknown variety to the general public outside of wine circles, in reality it was until recently the most widespread and most represented white variety in Dalmatia.

In the small village of Plastovo, just 5 km north of Skradin, on the borders of the Krka River National Park, the Sladić family has been growing wine for generations. This cherished tradition has been passed down from generation to generation.Their heritage is four local varieties - Debit, Maraština, Plavina and Lasina. At 250 m above sea level, the grapes ripen in abundance in the sun, and on fresh nights that are the product of a specific microclimate caused by the proximity of the river Krka, mountains and the sea. The wines thus retain their precious acidity and aroma.
